How to get my hair wavy and shiny? Not poofy or frizzy?
My hair is pretty dry, curly/wavy, long, thick, and can get very poofy and frizzy. I can never blow dry it or brush it (when it’s not drenched in conditioner) or it’ll poof out into some kind of afro.
How can I get it looking smooth and flatter and semi-wavy, like this?

What kind of products should I use, and what brand? The supermarket store hair products don’t work on my hair, so please don’t suggest anything like Herbal Essences or Pantene – I’ve tried them all.
