Food for chihuahua and German Shepard?
4 year old chi is new to my home, and gets New Canine Chihuahua’s and GSD gets various high quality dog foods, I think high anyway. Just switched canned to “Wellness” natural meat, like venison or duck, and sweet potato. I’ve added fresh meats myself, chicken, turkey, and beef burger, too. Their coats are just not as soft or shiny as I’d hope. Diet Ideas?
Wellness is a good brand, and can be fed to both dogs. Now that you’ve switched, you’re likely to see improvements in their coats. I wouldn’t feed them raw hamburger, though, because dogs can get e.coli and salmonella poisoning, too.
When you’re feeding your dogs raw meat, don’t forget that they need veggies, too. There are fruits and vegetables in Wellness dog food, but you can also give them frozen green beans as treats (instead of grain-based treats); most dogs love them. My own dogs also love apples and bananas.
