Who else agrees with this theory on womens magazines?
I have noticed over time how often some womens magazines like to slam and critisize celebrities. I often see rough photos of celebrities which the magazines use to point out their faults such as SHE HAS CELLULITE and SHE IS TOO SKINNY!
I think really it is a way to make the stupid people who read these magazines feel better about their own crap bodies and crap lives. It really is ashame that people must critisize others to make them feel good! Just because most of our population is overweight and needs to point out other peoples imperfections to mask out their own. I think we should look for beauty in all things but these magazines just tick me off. Who agrees or is there a better reason for why they do this?
I absolutely agree with you 100% and it’s high time these magazines started to be a bit responsible about the messages they are giving out to people in an age where the risks of being obsessed with looks are fast proving to be extremely damaging to everyone’s health. Even when magazines praise celebrities for their curves and for putting on a bit of weight, it is just as bad because they are still focussing on appearance in one way or another and ought to try talking about something more important for a change.
The real hypocrisy of it all is that those bitchy journalists who are criticising the stars for all their imperfections are almost definitely sitting at their desks with spotty skin, thighs full of cellulite and a good few inches of fat around their waists. It’s just a scandal that people can be paid good money for doing that sort of thing as a job when nurses slave away in hospitals and earn next to nothing. I’d love to see the journalists’ “first thing in the morning” pictures slapped all over a magazine and see how they like the world knowing that they look like the back of a bus!
