Has anyone tried a diet that puts you into ketosis? What were your side effects? How much weight did u lose?
I am 6’2″ and weigh 218 lbs. Doesn’t sound bad but I’ve been thin all my life until I hit my 30′s. Never got over 175 lbs. I’m 35 now. I broke my leg in december so the cardio went out the door and I won’t be able to even jog until around august. I put on about 18 pounds since then. All fat. All gut. I am thinking about a low carb diet or Cyclical Ketogenic Diet to be exact. I am wondering out of those who tried and stuck with a diet that was low carb and put you into ketosis what your experience was like. Can you drink alcohol on these diets? Did you try supplements that worked better than others? What about food and which tasted the best and worked for you? Thx
What would be the point in doing it for just 3 days? By the time you reached ketosis the 3 days would be up.
Give it a go, what have you got to lose except fat?
Are you going to do resistance training? that and CKD will go well, if you were always thin then it sounds like you need weights not cardio!
Ketosis is fine, you do lose a bit of fluid when you first reach ketosis, if you feel light headed or weak etc it is because your body is readjusting and the electrolytes are temporairly out of wack from the initial fluid loss. A pottasium supp during the first few weeks will do wonders plus make sure you don’t try to cut your salt right out. Salts are important.
If you usually eat low fat then you may feel a bit nauseated at first, this is only because your body isn’t used to it and needs time to adjust the amount of enzymes it needs for digesting fat. If this happens just up your intake gradually and you will be fine.
You can drink alcohol in moderation after you have finished any initial induction phase. Not beer though, spirits are usually safest then next up is wine but really you are better off leaving them out until you lose your weight.
Don’t try and cut out saturated fat or red meat, thats just plain silly, they’re good for you!
