Gestational Diabetes – Need help with fasting levels?
Earlier this week I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes and my doctor gave me instructions to meet with a dietitian and take a course to help me handle it with diet. It is also not available until next week, so meanwhile I'm taking 4x/day my glucose levels and try to adjust my diet with a sample menu I found online. My after lunch and after numbers dinner are great, but my fasting and after breakfast numbers are still a bit high. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can help lower these numbers morning between now and the time I am able to meet with the dietitian? What has worked for you? I have only 53 days until they offer, and feel that time is ticking and every day will not this right is a day that is hurting my baby! "A little higher" means, in the low 90s, when they should be 60 to 90 (fasting) and 140 to 160 when they should be 100 to 130 (after meals).
What have you been working – what is "a little high? Limiting carbohydrates at night and breaskfast and instead increase their intake of protein. That's honestly about all I can really now, and there is no guarantee it will work. Despite the most diligent efforts, some women can not control their blood sugar with diet changes. Good luck!
