One of the best ways to treat shin splint is by prevention. First thing one must focussing on when working out is the type of shoes that will be used. It is important to have the right footwear that is cushiony insole. If you are doing exercises or aerobics, it is important to get a mat, or something padded and not uneven backdrop. Always stretch your entire body but, especially your lower legs.
Normally if you are sore the next day after a work out, you are encouraged to continue working out, as it eases the soreness. This method does not work for shin splint, if you experience pain in the lower leg, continuing to work out or walk and run will only make it worse. You should stay off of your feet for a while until the pain recedes.
Swollen parts of your body, don’t forget to pack it with an ice bag. . You can put ice on a towel and place it on your leg or you can put ice in a zip lock bag instead of a towel, to help ease the pain. You should do this for about 10 minutes each time throughout the day.
You can also take over the bounder medication to try and ease the pain. You should take medicine that aims to cure muscle ache, or anti incitive medicine. This can help with the pain associated temporarily but will not stop the shin splint.
You can also bind your lower leg to scale down the muscles and keep them from moving. An athletic bandage with self adhesive material tape works best. This is especially helpful for the person who is unable to stay off their feet during this time.
There is treatment for shin splints and these are some of those methods that work. If you use these in combination can help excuse the pain found in the lower leg. Always make sure to have the right kind of shoes, and check with your doctor if the pain persists.
