Many females, and some men, are adamant about putting on a night wrinkle cream in their daily ant-wrinkle system. The notion is that while sleeping, the body, in addition to facial skin, rebuilds and heals itself, so this would appear to be a great time to apply a high-quality night wrinkle cream. But when you put some thought into it, skin breakdown and renewal is a little more complicated than this.
Your skin is the clue to the health of your inner being, and when you feel great and are vibrantly healthy, your skin has a glow about it. Look at the face of a child and you’ll see what I mean. A child’s face is full, with no sagging, wrinkles, or sallow color. On the other hand, take a gander at a smoker’s face and you’ll notice that it’s, shall we say, quite unhealthy looking, maybe even a little grayish. The damaging effects of free radicals from the inhaled smoke has taken its toll on the health of the smoker, and their skin is a reflection of this damage. Certainly not the vibrant healthy glow we’re looking for, now is it? When you’re healthy and take care of yourself, it shows and people will acknowledge when you have that healthy appearance in your skin.
But when people consider getting healthier skin, they probably conjure up thoughts of numerous anti-wrinkle gels and a suitable night wrinkle cream that promises beautiful skin. Yet many of these topicals are modestly effective at best and not worth spending any money at all on. There are, however, a select few topical products, consisting of OTC and prescription products, that have been shown in studies to be effective against wrinkles. But the real secret to fighting skin aging and wrinkles lies in the 80/20 rule: 80 percent of your time should focus on certain supplements and dietary strategies for erasing the appearance of wrinkles, while the other 20 percent of your time should rely on application of effective topical creams.
I have said for years that the biggest mistake the majority of people make in this area is they try to fight aging of the skin from the outside-in, e.g., slathering lotions on the surface of their face, etc. But by consuming certain supplements and, yes, even drugs that help protect the collagen and elastin content of the skin via stimulating their production while at the same time interupting their breakdown, you will be victorious in the war on wrinkles. When you combine this “inside-out” strategy with effective creams and gels, you’ve got the real fountain of youth for your skin.
A simple example of this would include making use of a side effect-free drug or a supplement that interrupts the breakdown of collagen in the skin, added to a night wrinkle cream topical such as tretinoin creams (such as Renova or, my favorite, Atralin). This systematic approach would have a substantial effect on eliminating wrinkles while concurrently halting the skin aging by eliminating the breakdown of collagen.
Follow the 80/20 rule for skin aging and wrinkles and you’ll be jumping for joy 10-15 years from now when you run into an old acquaintance who will be scratching their head trying to figure out if you’ve had something done to your face because you look so darn young. The internal and external combined anti-wrinkle approach is the scientific way to go, and it will be successful for as long as you put some effort to give it a real trial and make it a part of your life.
