Im on a low carb diet?

Im on a low carb diet im 28 years old and need to drop 14 pound, i have flavons porridge for breakfast with berries and a apple at 11, then at 1 i have a brown bread sandwhish with just relish and chicken and tomatoe and a knorr hot cup soup, apple at 4.30, gym till 7 after work, then for dinner i normally have fish and steamed veggies or a ommelte and veggies, im getting a bit bord and craving more wholesome things its only day 3 but any nice ideas to spice it up cutting out most carbs

Forget cutting the carbs and start looking at the calories. Remember the old riddle “what weighs more a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks?” It’s the same with calories. In order of highest first calories are mainly found in fats, sugars and carbs but they are also found in proteins too.

If you are looking to lose weight then limit your calories to 1000-1500 calories a day. It makes little difference if this is 1500 calories of fat, sugar, carbs or proteins. You should have a little of everything. Your body needs a balanced diet to be healthy. Going on a low carb diet will work if you stay under your basal metabolic rate (The amount of calories you need to maintain your weight), however, it is not maintainable and if you eat more calories in fats, sugars and proteins you end up putting on weight. You should also be aware that a high protein diet can be quite dangerous for people with impaired kidney function.

You don’t say what you are drinking throughout the day. You should be trying to drink at least 2 litres of fluid (some recommend 3 litres) If you drink carbonated drinks then make sure you are drinking the diet varieties. You can also get low-calorie mineral/spring water. Many people will warn you against drinking coffee but caffeine helps release fat cells into the blood-stream and a black coffee shortly before a workout is supposed to help.

As you can probably guess, I would never recommend a low-carb diet. It is a fad diet which can give you results but really you should be looking at a life-style change and the first step to this is to look at the back of packets to see the calorific value. My favourite deceit is Malt loaf. <5% fat but packed full of sugar. If you want to stick it out, go for salads with cooked meats. Good luck
