When going out, make sure that your coat can protect you from wind, snow and rain. See to it that your outer coat is breathable and big enough to cover your entire outer layers. It is important that your clothes you wear inside are protected against the elements such as water and wind to keep you feeling comfortable and not to shiver in cold. Wearing cotton, silk and wool can make you feel warm only when you are standing still. But as you move and the body begins to produce sweat, it will be trapped in the fabrics and you will feel very cold on it.

Your mittens should be well fitted in your hands and your boots should not be too tight to allow circulation. A pair of socks is enough already to cover up to your knee or mid calf. Cover your ears and head as well, because 30% of the heat is lost through the head.
